Youth Leadership 14th Annual Seven-Month Program

The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program kicked off it’s 14th Annual seven-month program with an opening retreat at 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center on Saturday August 22. The students participated in a leadership workshop, team building exercises, canoe races and a game of canoe tug a war.

Kerry Flowers, President of Flowers Consulting Group presented the leadership workshop. Flowers discussed the qualities of a leader and what a leader looks like in our community through hands-on activities.

Throughout the seven month program, students will work on a wide variety of projects that are developed to help them learn leadership skills and broaden their individual talents. Included are seminars, volunteer activities and small group projects that integrate involvement in civic and business issues with life skills that empower them as leaders.

The Eastern Shore Chamber Youth Leadership program is currently funded through special donations and grants obtained by the Eastern Shore Chamber Foundation, a 501(C) (3) entity. Individuals, foundations, corporations and small businesses have also made contributions. The program consists of sophomores, juniors and seniors from Eastern Shore public and private high schools as well as home-schooled students.
