Sonya Davis - Brief General Bio
Sonya Davis is the executive director and chief curator of the Pensacola Museum of Art (PMA) where she oversees an exhibition schedule of national and international artists in a full range of media along with arts education and outreach programming.
 
Prior to her appointment at the PMA in 2009, she served as the executive director of the Lighthouse Center for the Arts in Palm Beach County. She was the former vice president for Services and Education at the Palm Beach County Cultural Council in West Palm Beach, Also in West Palm Beach, she previously served on the staff of the Norton Museum of Art.
 
A native of the Midwest, she holds both Master's and Bachelor's degrees from the University of Minnesota. Her Master's degree concentration is in Art History with a focus on early 20th century women photographers.
 
 
Michael W. Moses
Michael W. Moses is a versatile artist versed in a variety of different mediums:  pottery, fine art ceramics, wood working, jewelry making, ikon painter, doll making tin work, sculpture, water color, acrylics, oils, graphite, reverse glass painting, frame and mat cutting and bead work.
 
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Moses was had access at an early ago to some of the best museums:  The Walters, The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Smithsonian Museum and galleries and the Library of Congress.
 
For the most part Moses is self taught, but has studied with several well established artists.  In the 70’s he studied with Thomas Hal Comer of Baltimore.  The 80’s P. Pavardes master ikon painter in Athens, Greece.  Also in the 80’s he studies with California master sculptor Cheryl Barnett.  Then in the 90’s New Mexico primitive folk artist Sylvia Martinez Johnson.
 
Moses learned traditional ceramic painting in New Mexico in the 1980’s at the Holoman Art Center, excelling in blue delft style and dry brush techniques.  At that time he also studies native American art styles and pottery while in New Mexico.  While living in Athens, Greece for six years he had access to such museum as the Hellenic National Gallery, The Hellenic National Archeological museum, The Benaki Museum and a multitude of archeological sites.
 
Moses has exhibited Athena’s Grove, Alamogordo, New Mexico; Xenobia Gallery, Athens, Greece; Merced College Art Gallery, Merced, California; Merced Civic Center, Merced, California; Arbor Gallery, Merced, California and Pendragon Gallery, Annapolis, Maryland.
 
He has also been a collector of antiques for 25 years and owns and operates the South Coast Antiques & Gallery.
