The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the board for 2007/2008, David Clark, handed over the gavel to incoming board chairman, Joe Bullock at the Chamber's annual meeting the 84th Annual Chairman's Gala, which was held at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa on June 5. Joe officially began his term on July 1, 2008.
Joe has been involved with the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce for the past eight years. As a strong supporter for the Blueprint for Tomorrow, Joe has the honor of serving on the Chamber's Board of Advisors. Joe has served as the Vice President of Economic
Development and on the Board of Directors. He also served as chairman of the Chamber's first Total Resource Campaign. Joe is also a regular on the annual leadership trip and looks forward to a new adventure every year.
The youngest of nine, Joe Bullock was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was taught good southern values by parents, who were native Mobilans. Driven by the need to be known as something other than "So and So Bullock's" little brother, Joe came to his senses and moved back to his roots. Joe has made Daphne his home for the past 14 years with his wife of 20 years, Lesli and their son Kellen. Oklahoma's loss is our gain.
With a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1987, Joe pursued a career in civil engineering. He spent 11 years with consulting engineering firms in positions ranging from design engineer to project manager/civil engineering department head. Joe is currently licensed in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. During this time he decided to further his education and in 1992 received his MBA from the University of South Alabama.
In 1999 Joe and fellow employee John Avent, formed Engineering Development Services, LLC offering services ranging from planning, surveying, engineering and construction observation. What started as a small company with five employees and one office, EDS has grown to a total of 38 employees with offices in Daphne, Gulf Shores and Mobile. When they designed and built the Daphne office in 2002, one of the requirements was room for a ping-pong table so Joe could keep his game up!
In addition to serving as Chairman of the Board for the Chamber Joe, serves on the Board of Directors for the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance; he serves on the Building Board of Adjustments for the City of Gulf Shores and he is a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers.
In his spare time Joe and his family enjoy cheering the OSU Cowboys on to victory, attending his son's swim meets and the occasional round of golf.
Joe and his family are members of Christ the King Church.
