Weeks Bay Foundation Welcomes New Executive Director

FAIRHOPE, AL - Connie Whitaker has joined the Weeks Bay Foundation as its new executive director. She brings to the organization nearly 10 years of nonprofit administration experience.  Most recently, Connie served as administrator at the Alabama Coastal Foundation and as external relations director at Feeding the Gulf Coast.

Connie earned a Bachelor of Administration degree from Georgia State University and is a graduate of Leadership Baldwin County Class of 2015.  Originallyfrom Dayton, Ohio, Connie has progressively moved south, being drawn to warmer weather and the coastal way of living. She sais she found her perfect home on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.

In her spare time, Connie enjoys all types of outdoor activities, from kayak fishing to hikes through the area’s nature preserves.

"I am passionate about protecting the environment and getting people outside,” Connie said. "Through my work at the Weeks Bay Foundation, I hope to advocate for the conservation and protection of all of Alabama’s amazing coastal resources. The Foundation has a long history of protecting land and habitats. As we celebrate our 30thanniversary this year, I am looking forward to wrapping up land projects that have been in the works for at least a year, and to pursuing new opportunities as funding allows.”

Connie is also a volunteer with the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, where she chaired the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast two years in a row.
