United Bank Welcomes Ida Ross Hicks to Board of Directors

Atmore, Ala.  – United Bank is proud to announce the addition of our new member, Ida Ross Hicks to our Board of Directors. The Daphne, Alabama business woman and community leader begins her term following service as a member of United Bank’s Baldwin County Advisory Board. 

Hicks is the President of Swift Supply, Inc., a sixth generation family owned business that caters to professional builders, remodelers and homeowners in providing quality construction materials. Swift Supply has a deep rooted legacy and expertise in utilizing the latest technology to ensure a balanced and diverse inventory. Some of the services they provide are roof truss design and manufacturing, engineered floor joist systems and custom millwork. Most recently Swift Supply has expanded their vision to offer a custom kitchen and bath design gallery located in Daphne. They have locations in Daphne, Robertsdale, Bay Minette, Atmore, Brewton, Monroeville, Orange Beach, and Pensacola, Florida.

A graduate of Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, Hicks earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree with a focused study in Psychology. Hicks’ experience extends to committing two years of service to Senator Jeff Sessions in his Washington, D.C. office before joining Swift Supply in 2003. While learning the business, Hicks came to see the need to be a good community partner and to fit into each market. Hicks believes her sixth-generation company is a marriage of the traditional and the modern business approach. "Relationships are important to us and we are committed to continuing to evolve to remain as relevant to today’s customers as we were generations ago.’ Hicks said. "Continuing to expand our product offerings, services and latest technology keeps us at the forefront.” From starting out as a logging saw mill in 1839, to becoming Swift Supply in the 1950’s, Hicks is proud of how the business has changed into what it is today.

Hicks understands the key aspects of business management, brand integrity, and delivering on that value promise. Most recently, Hicks has been a critical piece of the Swift Supply rebrand. Under her leadership, Hicks has successfully implemented brand consistency through all channels of their market engagement. "Swift Supply has a strong and enduring brand,” Hicks said. "This was a vital component to a growing part of our business.” 

Beyond her corporate endeavors, Hicks currently serves on the board of the National Lumber and Building Materials Dealers Association. She is the former Chair of the Construction Suppliers Association. Hicks is also a member of the Aspiring Leaders Committee of the Lumbermen’s Merchandising Corporation.

Hicks is married to Brad Hicks of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and resides in Daphne with their three children, Jack, age 13, Amelia, age 11, and Janie, age 6.
