The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration has awarded $375,000.00 to the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission (SARPC) to develop an Economic Relief and Resiliency Response Plan for our Economic Development District (EDD), which encompasses Baldwin, Escambia and Mobile Counties of Alabama.

We want to express our appreciation to Mr. Lee Lawson, Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, Mr. Jess Nicholas, Escambia County Economic Development Director, both are SARPC Board Members, and Mr. Bill Sisson, Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce for their support and assistance with this grant application as well as agreeing to be on the Plan Steering Committee.

This Plan will identify those industry sectors that have not been susceptible to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We will expand upon these industries while identify new industries that can adapt to changing environments and that will excel in our Region. A Workforce Development Plan will be created that will provide a pathway for implementation of the Economic Relief and Resiliency Response Plan by having the workforce in place for Economic Relief and Resiliency Response Plan the identified new and expanding industries.
