Rouses Market Opens in Daphne

DAPHNE, Ala. - Family-owned Rouses Markets opened its doors Friday, May 31 with 300 customers lined up outside. The grocery store chain did more than half a million dollars in business the first three days at this location alone.

This 53,000-square foot location at 3075 Highway 98 in Daphne focuses on fresh. There’s a full-service bakery, butcher shop, floral department and seafood market. Farmers-market arrays of seasonal and local produce, plus more than 100 organic fresh fruits and vegetables. And the largest selection of wine, beer and imported and domestic cheeses on the Gulf Coast. But it’s the selection of prepared foods, including a poke bowl station and Mongolian Grill with made-to-order stir-fries that will really blow away customers expectations.

The first 200 customers on opening day received a voucher for 10% off their total grocery bill. They also featured produce giveaways throughout the day and storewide samplings.

Opening-day festivities also included appearances by former New Orleans Saint Deuce McAllister, the Saints Mascot and two Saintsations. Rouses is the Official Supermarket of the New Orleans Saints.

Rouses Markets is one of the fastest growing family-owned companies in the United States. The late Anthony J. Rouse, Sr., started with one store in Houma, Louisiana, back in 1960. Today there are 63 Rouses Markets and more than 6,700 team members serving customers across three states: Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. Donny Rouse, CEO, is the 3rd generation of the family to run the company.
