Leaders Council Spotlight: Brad Pitt, Riviera Utilities

Riviera Utilities Chief Administrative Officer Brad Pitt says starting from the bottom and working hard to get to the top, played a major role in his success.

Pitt graduated from B.C. Rain High School in 1979 and went straight to work as a laborer at a local investor-owned utility. He didn’t consider attending college at the time but learned from his dad and two brothers that having a good work ethic and perseverance would take him far.

Over his 39-year career, he’s picked up a wealth of practical leadership experience along with a degree from the University of Mobile in 2005. Taking on various leadership roles along the way, he understands what it takes for a leader to connect with individuals at every level within an organization.

You don’t have to talk to Pitt long to recognize that he has a heart for inspiring the next generation. "I enjoy being able to give back to my community. I enjoy the interaction with other community leaders in coming together to make Baldwin County a great place to live and having fun while doing it,” said Pitt. "I believe we have the responsibility to help those who we can and in doing so, set a positive example for the coming generations to follow.”

Today he serves as a member of the Leadership Baldwin Steering Committee where he helps organize the program each year. He also serves on the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors where he plays an active role in supporting workforce development initiatives including the Baldwin County Career & Job Fair as well as the Student Training and Exploration Program and Youth Leadership. He’s also a major supporter for the Chamber’s Young Professionals Program.

These initiatives go hand-in-hand with his role at Riviera Utilities. He says the value public utilities bring to the table, goes way beyond dollars and cents or keeping all your services operating. "Community relationships, local control, and high standards of customer service are factors that add intangible but immense value that sets public utilities apart. We live and work in the same communities that our customers do; our customers are our community,” said Pitt.

Brad Pitt says he’s proud to call Baldwin County home, "Living and working in Baldwin County is rewarding to me; the way our communities come together, especially in times of need is special.”
