Infirmary Health Purchases 17 Acres in Malbis for Medical Complex Near New Emergency Department
DAPHNE, AL (August 17, 2017)– Infirmary Health, the largest non-governmental health care system in Alabama based in Mobile, recently purchased 17.8 acres of land with over 800 feet on Hwy 90 in the Malbis community of Daphne, AL near the intersection of Highways 181 and 90. The undeveloped property was re-zoned to a neighborhood business district B2(a) to accommodate future development plans and it was officially annexed into the City of Daphne. It remains a historical district.
The sale ($3.85 mil) was facilitated by Sharon Wright and Tracy Womack of White-Spunner Realty. The buyer was represented by BT Roberts of Roberts Brothers CPM, Inc.
Thomas Hospital, an affiliate of Infirmary Health located in Fairhope, is currently constructing a freestanding emergency department in Malbis that is scheduled to open in October 2017. The 17-acre parcel recently purchased by Infirmary Health is located near this freestanding emergency department.
"We are excited to develop a medical complex to serve the Eastern Shore which is growing rapidly,” said Mark Nix, President & CEO of Infirmary Health. "The property’s proximity to the Thomas Hospital Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) is ideal. The FED also houses state-of-the-art imaging equipment for outpatient diagnostic testing making it convenient for residents to receive comprehensive care close to home. The project will be home to various physician practices and is slated to be completed in the summer of 2020.”
