Fairhope, AL (May 16, 2019) - Bay Shore Ballet Academy, Fairhope, AL, announces its Summer Dance Intensive Dance Workshop and Performance set for July 8-August 2.  Sessions will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 10 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. This special workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced level dancers with a minimum of four years of training exclusively.  The studio offers a flexible tuition rate which will allow up to one week of vacation time during the four weeks session. Tuition is $300 - $375 based on registration for 3-week or full 4-week workshop. This special workshop is open to intermediate to advanced dancers from all studios in the area.

Dancers will learn and perform choreography from famous classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Les Sylphides, Swan Lake, Paquita, and other great classics. Classes include technique, pointe, variations, and during the lunch break dancers will study dance history, terminology, choreography and the biographies of legendary dancers and companies.

Faculty includes Janet Carole, Bay Shore Ballet director and former principal dancer of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Oakland Ballet and soloist for the Pennsylvania Ballet.  Bay Shore Ballet instructor, Stephanie Barfield, also joins for the fifth year as Summer Intensive Dance Workshop faculty teaching modern, jazz, choreography and stretch classes.  Additionally, Bay Shore Ballet Principal dancers will teach technique, pointe, and variations from the classics and yoga.

The intensive concludes with an in-studio performance and reception for family and invited guests on Friday, August 2.

Since its inception in 1997, Bay Shore Ballet Theatre has showcased guest artists and principals of the Company along with aspiring students of the Academy. The theatre has presented an array of full-length beloved classics including Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Copellia, The Sleeping Beauty, La Boutique Fantasque, Peter and the Wolf, Paquita and its well-received annual production of The Nutcracker.  The performances come to life with exquisite costumes and elaborate sets and scenery featuring designs by the late master scenic artist, William Loyed, and expertise of professional lighting designers.

Janet Carole, director and former principal ballerina with major U.S. and Canadian companies, stages the grand scale productions with more than 60 dancers and performers from AL Gulf Coast communities.  Her training includes the Joffrey Ballet and School of American Ballet in New York City, NY, as well as, the National Ballet School in Washington D.C.
