Eastern Shore Chamber Board Passes Resolution To Support Crucial Tax Renewal

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. – The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Board has unanimously passed a resolution to support the renewal of all existing funding for the Baldwin County Public School System.

On Tuesday, March 1, Baldwin County voters will be asked to renew the expiring four mill property tax allocation for the Baldwin County School District. The current tax allocation is critical to the funding of existing essential operations.

The public schools in Baldwin County have earned a reputation for excellence in education and play an essential role in the long-term vitality and economic prosperity of Baldwin County. "Our school system is one of the biggest driving factors in terms of growth on the Eastern Shore and it’s integral that our schools have the funding to continue to offer a quality education,” said Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Heiko Einfeld, "It’s important for voters to note that these are not new taxes being proposed. A yes vote would continue to fund education in the county at its current level.”

The Eastern Shore’s economic development efforts and its ability to attract and keep high quality employers are directly linked to enabling our public schools to continue to produce outstanding students who will constitute the future workforce of tomorrow.

"We’re focused on workforce development, we’re focused on economic development and continuing this tax for the school system is imperative for the future of this school system. Outstanding public schools can only exist if there is funding in place to support them,” said Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Bill McLaughlin.

The Eastern Shore Chamber Board strongly encourages citizens of the Eastern Shore and all of Baldwin County to vote in favor of renewing the expiring four mills of existing funding so we may continue to ensure Baldwin County has quality schools that promote strong communities and quality of life.
