Century Bank Opens New Location in Fairhope

FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Century Bank has now opened its newest location at 861 Edwards Avenue in Fairhope, Alabama.

The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce helped celebrate with a ribbon cutting on March 14, 2019.

The name is new to the Eastern Shore, but it has a long family tradition opening as the Bank of Lucedale in 1903 in Lucedale, Mississippi by Gregory M. Luce, Lucedale’s namesake. The bank was passed down to his son Jex H. Luce, then Douglas T. Luce Sr., then Douglas T. Luce Jr. who now sits as the Chairman of the Board.

At the turn of the millennium, the bank changed its name to Century Bank in January 1999, a change that coincided with the vision to promote continued growth as well as necessary changes to compete in today’s banking world.

The bank expanded into Jackson County, Mississippi and Mobile County, Alabama before opening its first Baldwin County Branch in Fairhope, one of the family’s favorite places to vacation.
