Gift to Foley Main Street Inc. provides new racks

Baldwin County, Ala (July 7, 2020) – Look for new bike parking coming to downtown Foley, funded in large part by a gift passed through the Baldwin County Trailblazers.

Foley City Council members on Monday (July 6) approved locations for four bike racks to be installed by Foley Main Street Inc. to encourage cycling to shops and restaurants in town.

The Trailblazers’ contribution to Foley Main Street was made possible by a donation in 2019 from the Barry Lee Booth Family Fund at the Community Foundation of South Alabama. In addition to providing $800 for racks in Foley, the Trailblazers used part of the gift to purchase and install racks at Coastal Community College Fairhope Campus and the Rotary Youth Club in Fairhope, among other locations.

"Encouraging people to be active for individual health and to build a connected community is fundamentally what we do,” says Jennifer Vestal, president of the Baldwin County Trailblazers.

"When people who support local business in Foley choose to bike there rather than drive, that’s perfectly aligned with our mission. We are sincerely grateful to Dr. Booth for his generosity to help make that happen.”

The Baldwin County Trailblazers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving opportunities for bicycling and walking in the County. For more, see
