BCT Hosts Youth Eastern Shore Trail Clean Up on 9/26/2020 from 10am-12pm

Baldwin County, AL- The Baldwin County Trailblazers will be hosting a youth trail clean up event along their 23 mile Eastern Shore Trail on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 10am-12pm.

Former Trailblazer Giraffe Award recipient, Annabelle Vestal, age 12, volunteered to create the poster art and hang it up around the county to help bring together kids "to tidy up the trail” with her. "I designed the clean up poster to reflect my hope that at the end of the day we leave a ‘Trash Free EST’ for everyone to enjoy,” said Vestal. "This is an easy way that we (kids) can make a big difference by with a small effort,” she continued.

The Trailblazers have secured gift cards for kid-sized custard cups from Whit’s Custard for the children that help out that day. The honor system will be employed- simply show up at Whit’s Custard (1204 Main Street in Daphne along the EST) at 12pm on Saturday, September 26, 2020 and Annabelle will distribute gift cards to the kids that participated in the event. "The custard is like the cherry on top, not only do you get to feel good about helping our local environment but you get to cool down with custard afterward,” laughed Vestal.

The Baldwin County Trailblazers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving walking and biking opportunities in Baldwin County, and encouraging citizens to safely use bike and pedestrian options. The organization was formed in 1995 to construct a 22-mile multi-surface trail to link the Alabama Battleship to the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. This trail has been completely realized through the ongoing support of the City of Daphne, Baldwin County Commission, City of Fairhope, and the Alabama Department of Transportation.
