BALDWIN BONE & JOINT ANNOUNCES A NEW FACE, NEW FOCUS
Dr. Rhett Hubley to focus on clinical services as BB&J welcomes Michael Chamblee, M.D. as its newest orthopaedic surgeon
DAPHNE, AL (July 24, 2017) – Longtime Baldwin Bone & Joint (BB&J) orthopaedic surgeon Rhett Hubley, M.D. is expanding his clinical services, focusing his talents on a non-operative, office-based practice. Ultimately, Hubley will transition to a non-surgical practice effective August 7, 2017. The move coincides with the addition of orthopaedic surgeon Michael Chamblee to the practice.
"This is simply a transition. I’ll be in the office, seeing patients, available for same-day referrals,” Hubley said of the change. "I’ve worked in this community for more than 20 years and have gradually built a practice with a team of physicians who offer various specialties in the field of orthopaedics. Now I’ve simply decided to restrict my practice to in-office work.” (Photo: Dr. Rhett Hubley)
Hubley explained that Dr. Chamblee, who will join the group July 31, will provide a new option for patients in need of surgery, particularly the hip and knee surgeries that have been his specialty. "We’ve got young surgeons coming in that are very capable,” he continued. "I’m going back to the clinical side.”
Michael Chamblee comes to the practice from the Meridian Orthopaedic Clinic in Meridian, Mississippi, where he has been practicing since 2011. He is a 2006 graduate of University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
"This is a longtime, established practice of great physicians,” Chamblee said of BB&J. "I’m looking forward to joining their team.” Of his specialty, he explained, "Hip replacements are what I enjoy most. It’s good to see people get better and its very surprising how quickly they can recover. You can really make a difference in their quality of life.” (Photo: Dr. Michael Chamblee)
Many of his patients, Chamblee said, are active people experiencing debilitating pain from arthritis. "It can restrict their sports, hobbies and even normal activity. It’s very rewarding to be able to do a surgery and see them get back to those activities they love.”
Chamblee and his wife Brooke are looking forward to the move to the Eastern Shore with their sons Collins (7), Gray (5) and Elliot (4). "We spend a lot of time outside,” Chamblee said of his family time. "We like fishing and outdoor sports. And we’re looking forward to being a part of this wonderful, growing community and to getting involved in church and community activities here.”
