What does it take to plan and manage the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce's Arts & Crafts Festival in Fairhope? Over a 100 volunteers! More than 50 volunteers serve on the planning committee, but many more will be needed to lend a hand during the festival, which takes place March 20, 21 & 22, 2009.
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce is looking for people to share their southern hospitality to both exhibitors and visitors. Some of the jobs include assisting with set-up and tear-down of booths, delivering refreshments to exhibitors, selling t-shirts and providing information, acquiring food and beverages for the festival committee, etc.
Over 211 exhibitors from throughout the nation will bring their best works to show and sell at this prestigious juried show. Live entertainment will be going on throughout the three-day event and unique festival cuisine will be served in the food court. It all takes place on the streets of beautiful downtown Fairhope, Alabama. Last year the event attracted 200,000 visitors to the area.
BRATS will offer a shuttle service from shopping centers located at the intersection of Fairhope Avenue and Greeno Road for only a $1 per ride.
Lots of other activities will be going on to add to the excitement of the festival: The Eastern Shore Art Center will hold its 36th Annual Outdoor Show adjacent to the Arts & Crafts Festival; Thomas Hospital presents its 30th Annual Spring Fever Chase; the 16th Annual Model Train Show will be going on Saturday and Sunday in the K-1 Center, which is a Southwest Alabama Railroad Modelers event; and Baldwin County Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption on Saturday at Compass Bank.
Live entertainment will be performed on the festival stage every hour during the event. There is no admission to get into the festival.
Festival hours are 10 am - 5 pm daily. To sign up as a volunteer call 621-8222.
